About MaxiA.

Writing your own introduction is quite a challenge, but hereby and due to a lack of options - challenge accepted! So this is me - maxi. - female (yes) - and based in Vienna. Initially I walked this ordinary corporate path for some time until I woke up in an unfulfilling 70 hours a week job. I knew that there was all this wonderful music out there that would be the key to my locked doors – as it always has been not only since I got my first portable turntable and vinyls when I was 10 years old. Expectedly I went unhappy and totally nuts among these overrated corporate stallions, so I decided to quit. Finally there was all the time I needed to make sweet sweeeeet love to my turntables – well, I guess you know what I mean. In other words, I started practicing and spending most of the time on listening tunes again. As I am just at the beginning of sharing my love of music with a broader audience, I enjoy the freedom of not being bound to a certain genre. However, there are influences that are stronger than others. Overall, I like the following mingle mangle and quite some more - music ranging from old school and soulful house before branching off into Detroit techno to the stripped back, spacious, and hard-edged sounds of Berlin’s techno scene when dynamic with pumping beats. But also slightly more laid-back tracks captivate me - sometimes minimal or even jazzy, sometimes with a dubstep-inflected beat. Often, I use this dubby music that creeps up on you slowly building the compelling pressure and before you realize it completely envelops you in its clutches – a bit shadowy, atmospheric or slightly moody. Also tracks with a rhythm that relies on a hypnotic repetition, suddenly unleashing a wicked little organic loop to pull you in completely constantly put a smile on my face. Here and there some happy comforting melodies capable of lifting you up instantly to round it off – yet, always with a focus on the distinctive warm analogue sound. So give it a try and find out the message yourself. (Challenge completed…I hope...).

Mixed by Junkuhn.

About Junkuhn.

Berlin born Junkuhn. started to collect records at the early age of 7 from his first pocket money. Listening to them on his dads stereo. His passion for music was followed by going clubbing at a very young age. In late 93, he had a ground breaking experience when he listened to Jeff Mills in the Berliner Tresor who was mixing on 3 decks, a keyboard and a 909. That was pure live music, just like a band would perform, he says. Junkuhn. straight away got on the decks himself and started mixing the funky side of techno influenced by early acid house. In late 94, he met DJ Danijel Alpha (Sweden) and became resident at his Berlin club 1200 (Icon).
Later he became resident at the TBC Berlin and part of a project run by Dimitri Hegeman (owner of the Tresor Berlin) called Tagesangebot (translated: todays offer). This was followed by several outdoor events like the Wittwien festival. Junkuhns music style became more and more influenced by deep house grooves and breakbeats. Merging his influences by playing and mixing deep house, funky techno and breaks in his sets, he quickly made a name for himself. Creating high-octane DJ sets through extraordinary mixing skills, including 3 decks & EFX mayhem and 10 hour marathons. Its about giving a live experience to the people, he says.
He always pushed his DJ sets further than just playing records and mixing the same 4/4 tempos and sounds together!
Junkuhn. played the 96 and 97 Loveparade Berlin and also in 98 alongside DJ Sneak and Gene Farris. In late 98, Junkuhn. decided to move to London.
After setting up his own studio there (catrax), he established himself as a versatile producer and remixer reaching from down-tempo groovy house over break beats to funky, pumping techno. In 2001, he founded the underground tech house night Bluebeat. and hosted, throughout 2001/02, a weekly homogenous radio show with his resident DJ Tyrrell from Interfearence on the world-wide www.pulseradio.net. In 2003, Junkuhn. met fellow DJ and producer Matt James and formed the JJcorp.

The team produced, played and promoted an intimate club night called Magua around London. Junkuhn. toured Slovakia, etc. in late summer 2003, bringing the unique JJcorp. sound to Eastern Europe. After ending his tour in Slovakia, he decided to pack up his studio and moved to Bratislava, Slovakia concentrating his energies more and more towards studio work. He produces under the name of Junkuhn. including various collaborations with artists like Matt James and also works as a sound engineer under the synonym Sonically Yours for electronic music artists, projects and bands.
He returned in mid 2006 to DJ-ing and playing live, pushing the digital DJ revolution of today forward using Ableton Live and Traktor Pro, today Vinyl Records feel like a dinosaur to me, technology simply enhances the possibilities of what we are doing, he says. He was also co-creator, program manager and resident DJ (Running his monthly night called FREAKED with guests like Simon Baker, Matt James, Marvin Shamma, Burnski, Daniel Kyo… ) of the in 2007 established electronic music club SONICLAB, Bratislava. He returned to his hometown Berlin in late 2008…
continuing DJ-ing and promoting nights, next to other electronic music related activities such as organising the Ableton Live User Group Berlin for about 2 years.

About Grube & Libre

The history of the Grube & Libre reaches back until 2004, when Berlin-born Julien Grubisic and Johannes Wägner join together to perform a live act called Terminal 19. At the young age of 18 both guys perform as one of Berlin's youngest acts in various clubs.
Not only own productions contributed to their repartoire, but also intoxicating DJ sets became a part of their passion.
After a short break, both decided to reunite as Grube & Libre, full of vigor for new shaking performances. Since 2009 both are a firm part of symbiont-music, enriching the clubs. Beside new own productions both convince by their mixes consisting of solid deep house, with a tang of dreaminess and topped off with groovy Chicago and Detroit sound.
Exactly what you need to keep on moving, especially if the after hour gets late.
